Islam 101 at Holy Church, Murfreesboro

Salam, Shalom and Peace!

First of all, I would like to make some announcements here. I felt not so comfortable to mix different languages in one blog. Since I also have interests to write some issues related to my surroundings in Bahasa Melayu, so I created a new blog, which is a discussion blog here!

Welcome to Bicara Intelektual. Here I will put all my articles in Bahasa Melayu. So for those who are interested to read it, feel free to visit this website. But it's still in Beta version, still in testing mode. So, I would like to apologize for any weaknesses found in this new blog. I love to write articles lately, and InsyaAllah I will try to publish one article per month. There are a lot of issues to be discussed and I love to share my thoughts about current issues with other people.

I also have updated the Introduction to Islam lectures in the right panel. Sorry I was having some problems lately with the video recorder. I also put some more Mp3 sound files and slides from other lectures that I attended. Furthermore, I updated the some more links at the which I found that are really interesting to be visited.

So this time I want to share my experience going to a discussion session about Islam at Holy Church, Murfressboro.

The program was held on March 14 2007 at a small Episcopal church in Murfreesboro. Usually they may have as many as 25 show up for a Wednesday night meeting during Lent. But during the lecture, there were probably 10-15 people who came. My fellow friends who attended the lecture were Wan Ahmad Hasan, Nik Mohd Daniel and Ahmad Nasiruddin. We went to the church with my big-brother Nurudddeen Lewis, who would give the first presentation that night. We left the campus around 545pm and arrive there around 7pm. Dr. Awadh was already at the church when we arrived.

The program started around 715pm, after we finished performed our Maghrib prayer. Nuruddeen started the lecture with some basic and introduction points about Islam, explaining about what Islam really is, what we believed in, why Islam is so beautiful and unique and other things. Nuruddeen was doing a great job and I hope he can improved more and more so that he can be like Dr. Awadh in the future, InsyaAllah.

Then Dr. Awadh talked about the contemporary issues of Muslims world. I knew that those people who came to the lecture were really wanted to know about Shiites and Sunni, the Jihad, Holy War and the basic understanding of the Day of Judgement. There were a lot of questions during his session and some of them, personally I thought they were really tough to answer. But Dr. Awadh was cool when answering all those questions. He answered the questions with facts and I really like it.

I uploaded the Mp3 lecture here and the slides of presentation here. For those who might be interested, please hear the last question asked by one of the audiences. I think it is so tough and hard to answer. That's just from my point of view, probably not with you.

After that, we went to the fast food restaurant for a dinner. We had a good time together that night, allhamdulillah.

So I think that's all for know. Don't forget to hear the Mp3 sound files and see the notes that I have here. Feel free to download it and please spread to your friends and colleagues.

Later!
