In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, The Merciful

Zakaria, it is not fair to jump into conclusion about prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) without thoroughly learn and understand about his life. If you did not know, most of his wives are widows and Aisha r.a is an exception. If you are really interested about why prophet Muhammad (pbuh) married Aisha'...make a research about it! A discussion with knowledge brings mercy but ignorance bring disunity.. okay? :)

Here's a bit of explanation based on what I know. If Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did not married Aisha', lots of hadeeths(the saying of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh)) will be perished as Aisha' r.a was blessed with an extremely good memory and the fact that she was destined to be prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) wife gave her more opportunities to be beside prophet Muhammad (pbuh) whenever he got wahy(revelation or inspiration of God). After the death of the prophet Muhammad (pbuh), whenever the companions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) faces any difficulty on a matter, they'll ask Aisha' r.a about it as she was mostly there when prophet Muhammad (pbuh)received revealations and so, this gave her privilege to be able to interpret the revealations.Do you understand it now?
That's the beauty of God's plan and you can't deny that God knows best. :)

Yes, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) married 'Aisha (may God be pleased with her) when she was 9 years old. There are four ahadith in Sahih al-Bukhari and three ahadith in Sahih Muslim clearly state that 'Aisha was "nine years old" as the time that her marriage was consummated with the Prophet Muhammad.

I already have heard, faced and answered the same kind of questions number of times. The question of the young age of 'Aisha (may God be pleased with her) which was nine years old when she got married with Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is not a hard question. This is due to lack knowledge about Islam, the history of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as well as issue of culture norm in the societies.

The criticism of Prophet Muhammad's marriage to 'Aisha is something relatively new in that it grew up out of the values of so-called "Post Enlightenment" Europe. Even during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad, the enemy of Islam at that time never see this as an issue. Why? Because in their own culture during that time, this is not an issue. The age at which a girl was considered ready to be married has been puberty. It is upon reaching the age of puberty that a person, man or woman, becomes legally responsible under Islamic Law. At this point, they are allowed to make their own decisions and are held accountable for their actions. It should also be mentioned that in Islam, it is unlawful to force someone to marry someone that they do not want to marry. The evidence shows that 'Aisha's marriage to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was one which both parties and their families agreed upon. Based on the culture at that time, no one saw anything wrong with it. On the contrary, they were all happy about it.

None of the Muslim sources report that anyone from the society at that time criticized this marriage due to 'Aisha's young age, even the enemy of Islam during that time. On the contrary, the marriage of 'Aisha to the Prophet Muhammad was encouraged by 'Aisha's father, Abu Bakr, and was welcomed by the community at large.

Puberty has been the historical, cultural and religious norm for indicating readiness for marriage. Islam has laid down no age limit for puberty for it varies with countries and races due to the climate, hereditary, physical and social conditions. Those who live in cold regions attain puberty at a much later age as compared with those living in hot regions where both male and female attain it at a quite early age. The average temperature of the country or province, is considered the chief factor here, not only with regard to menstruation but as regards the whole of sexual development at puberty.

Dear Zakaria. I can give you more and more explainations about this question. It is not a science rocket question. But I also would like to ask you to educate yourself about the religion of Islam and the life of the Prophet Muhammad. Go read about the story of the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad from the authentic sources and ask someone knowledgable about Islam if you have any question. I am more than happy to answer any question if you have.
